WordPress for Designers: Day 6
Happy Valetines Day everyone! We are back and ready for Wordpress for Designers Day 6 and moving right along with where we left off in Day 5. Today we will continue to split up our theme files in order to allow us more flexibilty when working with our theme. We will also have a look and discuss the Wordpress template hierarchy. In addition, we will be creating and managing our single.php files, which will help us format our individual posts. Let’s get going!

Simply amazing Drew! Can’t wait for the rest of this series!
I am really enjoying these screen casts, but would like to make a suggestion. Perhaps you could add the duration either in the text of the page or in the video player itself.
Nice step by step, i know WP, but I’m watching this series because its awesome, and todays tips, its priceless man.
Thank you
Yoosuf
Hahaha. I hate to be mean, especially since you’re still doing this for us while you’re ill! but:
I laughed more at “uhh… we’ll style the tags later.. I seemed to have screwed some commas up..” and “Why isn’t this working… hmm…. oh, I don’t have a footer.php yet.” than I did at the AOL and Doug gags.
lol. That aside, Thank you very much for these. Subscribed, Dugg, etc.
priceless tutorials as always! you’re awesome!
Another great screencast Doug. I was thinking all along “this guy is so sloppy, he forgot the footer file” but then I actually enjoyed this tutorial because it shows a real person that can make mistakes. Keep it up.
Thank you Doug! Keep up the awesome screencasts. I love waking up to new screencasts from NetTuts and Theme Forest!
I spaced out when I said thank you… I meant Drew! Reading comments and replying at the same time don’t have the right outcome lol.
Thanks again! Can’t wait for the next screencast.
@Jorge Bucaran, still more to go, so footer is not going to be a big issue, thats a human mistake.
The videos are not working.
Brilliant! Lovin it! Can´t wait to learn about comments, Please show how to comment posts and count the comments a post has got, that would be great:)
Cheers….
Nice stuff.
One problem though. The tags won’t show up on single.php. There are no errors on my part because I replaced my old files with the ones you provide.
@Mike – You have to go to your Wordpress Dashboard and add the tags to your posts.
@Drew – You’re awesome man! I’ve always wanted to learn WP but most tutorials aren’t as in depth and step by step [and funny] as yours. Thanks, this is the first RSS I’ve subscribed to!
Great learning tutorials – Im just catching up did all the screencasts tonight, reallly some good stuff – also are you taking this tutorial all the way to a final Doug-like theme? Should be good…
thanks again! I’m learning a lot with ur screencasts
Cheers
Thanks so much. These are really insightful!
When is day 7 coming?
Yikes! It is Drew! I don’t know where I got Doug from.
really nice , i started to work with wordpress now !
It’s great, Drew.. Very clear and you really make Wordpress looks so easy.
Great screencasts Drew, thanks …. just one question … do you have a fish tack in the background? I am trying to figure out what the bubbly noise is?
That is a fish tank … not fish tack!!
hi there, lovely series but where are parts 1,3 and 5.
greetz ck
WWWWOOOOWWW
is the only thing I say.
People like you are the future.
If you look up web 3.9.3 in a dictionary your face will be there right next to the
desc.
Anyways thank you very much for your effort!!
Great article simple and useful
Hi Doug, Great series!
I know this is off topic but i have noticed on your desktop that your dock is separated into nice little groups (Adobe Apps etc..)
Can i ask how you did this? i recently switched to mac from PC and cannot find how this is done.
Thanks, and keep up the good work!
Thanks a ton… These are getting better and better!
